Pete Dye Course at French Lick Resort

Hilltop Pete Dye championship

The Pete Dye Course is the intimidation act. Dye sketched the original concept on a napkin, then built a mountaintop golf course that feels partly like architecture and partly like a dare. From the tips, resort materials list it at 8,102 yards with an 80.0 rating and 148 slope. Translation: do not let the loudest 12-handicap in the group choose the tees.

The course is visually spectacular and strategically severe. Long hitters see landing zones pinch. Shorter hitters see forced decisions. Everyone sees enough bunkers, edges, and exposed approaches to understand that this is not a comfort round.

It’s a must play for any avid golfer. The layout and the views are unmatched where you will spend most of the round just enjoying the view. Very difficult course and must rely on the forecaddie. We had Ryan who was spectacular and made the experience even better.
